Transplanisphere becomes a member of UNESCO Club

In June 2019, the jury of the French Commission of Clubs of UNESCO selected La Transplanisphere to join the group of labelled French associations and take part in the following actions

UNESCO is an intergovernmental organisation and one of the specialised agencies of the United Nations; it works for the coordination of international cooperation in education, science, culture and communication.

The mission of UNESCO is to “contribute to the maintenance of peace and security by strengthening through education, science and culture, collaboration among nations to ensure universal respect for justice, the law, human rights and fundamental freedoms for all, regardless of race, sex, language or religion.”

Clubs for UNESCO are characterised by an international and intercultural dimension in their actions and mission. Today, more than 4000 clubs, in over 100 countries, spread UNESCO’s values, participate in civic education and encourage dialogue among people, all for the promotion of peace.

OBJECTIVES OF THE FRENCH CLUBS FOR UNESCO

The Clubs, by responding to the challenges of today’s world with voluntary, collective actions of great scope and weight, offer great potential to support and disseminate UNESCO’s programs.

Clubs for UNESCO have two essential functions: training and action.

Training: Clubs have an educational mission; they educate committed citizens, foster intercultural dialogue, international solidarity, human rights, sustainable development, heritage…and much more besides.

The action: The members of the Clubs, aware of the values ​​in need of transmission, fulfil the role of ambassadors; communicating to their immediate audience to raise the public profile of French Clubs for UNESCO its activities: be they founding and managing reception centres, producing and disseminating informational material, organising events (seminars, conferences, debates …), cultural activities, dissemination of reports, international exchanges, and more.
